What is a Salon?

Too often, we hear the common refrain that that “it doesn’t matter who’s in power”.  Voter participation has been low in recent elections and political discourse has moved from issues of the day that affect Canadians to personal mud slinging.

In a bid to counter that culture, WSIC hosts monthly salons about salient political issues. Traditionally, salons were held in public places where the community could discuss political issues of the day.  We bring in a subject matter expert (or two) and have an open and honest discussion about the topic, how it impacts us as citizens, and what we might be able to do about it.

Our goal is to be the first step of political engagement.

Get Informed. Get Engaged. Make a difference.
