Changes to Education – What do they mean? – CANCELLED

March 16, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Due to the Coronavirus outbreak, we are postponing this event to do our bit to “flatten the curve” and slow down the transmission of the disease. We are monitoring the situation closely and will follow the advice of public health officials. Since many of our guests are high risk individuals due to health/age considerations, we have decided that cancelling this is the best course of action at this time. All 3 speakers have graciously agreed to come back another time.

Stay safe and please spare a thought for our healthcare workers who are working around the clock to contain the disease.

How is education changing in Ontario?

The Ontario Government has instituted new metrics for how Universities will be funded. Secondary and Elementary teachers are in a continued battled over class sizes. What exactly are the changes happening at all three levels of education? How are they impacting teachers in the classrooms and what long term impacts on students are educators expecting?

Joining us on March 16 are educators at all 3 levels. Rob Heynen, Professor at York University, Elizabeth So, Grade 2 teacher at Church St. P.S., and Mischa Levine teacher at RH King Academy.

We will be at the Madison Pub (14 Madison Avenue). Doors open at 7:00pm. Discussion starts promptly at 7:15pm.
