Refugee Crisis: How we can help

November 16, 2015 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Many of us still have the image of Aylan Kurdi burned into our hearts and minds.  Canadians are left wondering what can be done to help people fleeing such dire straits.  With a new government in Ottawa, Canadians want to know not only what can, but what will be done, and what impacts it will have both on the crisis in Syria and to our own communities.

In the 70s, Canada welcomed the Vietnamese boat people with open arms.  They have since integrated into the fabric of Canadian society.  Canadians want to know what the difference is this time around that stops us from acting.

Join us on November 16 at the Madison Pub as Immigration lawyer Chantal Desloges and Luciano Moro, an Outreach worker at the Office for Refugees, Archdiocese of Toronto, tackle the issue of the Syrian Refugee crisis. Why the situation is as it is, and what we should expect Canada to do, and what Canadians as individuals can do.

Doors open at 7:00pm and the discussion starts promptly at 7:30pm.  Please RSVP to let us know you can join us.
