Why Should I Care about muzzled federal scientist?

May 27, 2013 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Canada has faced criticism from the scientific community because of restrictions placed on federal scientists to share research. Is it just perception or have scientists been prevented from sharing research results?

Professor Jeffrey Hutchings, Killam Professor of biology at Dalhousie University, joins us Monday May 27th to share his views about why the free flow of research is important to Canada and to Canadians. Stephen Strauss, a journalist with over 30 years of experience covering science for major newspapers will share his perspective about how the flow of information between scientists and media has changed and the implication for Canadians.

Have concerns about the future of Canada’s research? Join us on Monday May 27th at the Duke of York, and have them heard. If you just want to sit, listen, and have a drink, that’s fine too. As always, the event is free.

Please RSVP using our Eventbrite page.

Doors open 7:00, discussion starts at 7:30.
