Smart Cities – Will we leave people behind?

March 19, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Free

Toronto has made Amazon’s short list for its new Headquarters. Google is investing $50M to create a smart city lab on our waterfront. It’s safe to say that Toronto will be a city of the future.  However, what happens to the people when the cities get smarter?

Is privacy a concept of a bygone era?  Will those who can least afford technology become increasingly marginalized and unable to access services?

Join us as we discuss the benefits and drawbacks of a fully connected city. How can we make sure the groundwork we lay today don’t create winners and losers down the road? We’ll be joined by Bianca Wylie, Co-founder Tech Reset Canada & Head, Open Data Institute Toronto, Shonda Wang, Lead, Urban Design, SvN, and Riad Hartani, partner at Xona Partners, a consultant on smart city project around the world.

We’ll be meeting Monday March 19 at the Madison Pub. As usual, the event is free, you just have to pay for anything you order.

Doors open 7:00pm. Discussion starts promptly at 7:30pm.

RSVP to let us know you can join us.
