WSIC about the Canada/E.U. Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)?

January 20, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Last autumn, Canada and the European Union reached an agreement on the key elements of a agreement; CETA.. This deal will have important implications since the E.U. was Canada’s second most important trading partner in 2012, constituting around 9.5% of Canada’s total external trade. While CETA is Canada’s biggest bilateral trade agreement since NAFTA, Canadians remarkably know very little about how CETA will work or might impact us.

On Monday, January 20, Catherine Swift, Chair of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business and Stuart Trew, a trade campaigner from the Council of Canadians, will discuss the pros and cons of such a sweeping agreement with our European neighbors. How will CETA affect local jobs? What does it mean for the environment? Will there be cost consequences on our goods and services?

Join us on Monday, January 20, at the Duke of York (39 Prince Arthur Ave), ask your questions and share your thoughts about CETA. If you just want to sit, listen, and have a drink, that’s fine too. As always, the event is free.
Please RSVP using our Eventbrite page. Doors open 7:00, discussion starts at 7:30.
