Ontario is dealing with an impending electricity generating shortfall while trying to explore ‘green’ energy solutions. Nuclear power has had its share of praise and criticism over the years leaving the general public confused about its safety, its reliability, and its economy. We’ll be attempting to answer some of those questions at Why Should I Care? As a fall election looms, its important to understand the implications of energy policies of each party. We’ll be hosting a series of talks exploring the issues surrounding nuclear energy.
On May 16, retired engineer Nobuyoshi (Nobby) Miura, and Dr. Kelly Moghul will be joining us to answer any questions we might have on nuclear safety. Over the span of his career Mr. Miura has worked on power generation research, design, and nuclear safety. Dr. Moghul is still an active consultant in the nuclear energy industry. Together, they will be discussing issues pertaining to health risk, and comparing Canada’s situation to Japan’s current crisis.
This promises to be a fun and insightful discussion that involves good food, beer, and fun.
The event is absolutely free (you only have to pay for what you order).
